About
Hi, I'm Bec
I have been coaching in Houston for seventeen years. Before that I played four years of Division I tennis and spent two seasons as an assistant coach, which is where I learned the thing that shaped how I teach: almost nobody needs their swing rebuilt. They need one specific problem found and fixed.
So that is how a lesson with me goes. I watch you play for ten minutes before I say anything. Then we work on the one thing that is costing you the most, and I film it so you can see the difference yourself rather than take my word for it.
A few years ago a player came to me after losing most of her sight and asked whether she could still compete. Finding out the answer sent me through sound-adapted tennis certification, and it has become the part of my week I look forward to most. Houston has a real blind and adaptive tennis community now, and I would like it to be bigger.
Off court I am a hopeless Houston Astros fan, I coach my daughter's middle-school team for free, and I will talk about grip changes for longer than anybody wants.
